Dear friends and Teachers,

Johar,

Sorry for reporting late about the meeting on 05/02/2012. It has been accepted, that the conference that has been organized on 24-25 January, 2012 was a conditional success. The biggest achievement of this conference is the formation of stage, where some of the noted tribal scholars were gathered to brain storm in one of the key issues namely “State of Secondary Education in Eastern and Central Tribal India”.
This time, everything was not proper at their place. Despite that we tried better to address the issue that has been targeted. We had some very good papers, which were really interesting and thought provoking. Now, we have asked the participants to improve the papers and send in to us, so that we can pursue for possible publication as volume. Apart from this we have decided to write some policy recommendations to the Government of Chhattisgarh and Government of Jharkhand.
Some other points of discussion were, about the role of JTSA in the issue of opening of the regional centre of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University and some other Tribal Study Centers (e.g. Indian Institute of Tribal Studies/Indian Institute of Advanced Tribal Studies/Central Tribal Studies) in Ranchi.
Finally, since the recent conference was not at par with the kind of imagination we had in our mind, so we have decided that the next conference will be held in Ranchi once again. Next conference has been targeted by October of 2012 or on the occasion of Birsa Munda Jayanti. Now we have to decide about the theme of the conference. So suggestions are eagerly invited from every member of the JTSA and requesting everyone to keep free to yourself for our occasion so that we can give the big push to the already started initiative. We also have to decide about the conference committee.
N.B. –“Suggestions are invited for the theme of the next conference within a month starting today”.
In additions to this, one of the proposal came from one of our member of JTSA, is about the trip for fact findings for the places like SARANDA and BASTAR during the vacations or as possible. This way we can see the reality of rural tribal life and can design some indigenous model of development. Please participate larger.
“Suggestions are Welcome”

Thanks and Johar,

Ganesh Manjhi (JTSA, President)
